About

Artist’s statement

Grace Hessman

I have spent many years honing my skills, finding teachers who teach, and traveling the path that most artists take to become the best version of themselves as an artist.  I have always had a desire to create (or recreate) the beauty that exists in nature.  Observing and studying the beauty and dance of Light ~ in a Landscape setting or through Children ~ has been my birthright.  I honor that gift by pursuing my art and painting as I weave it into my everyday life.  It was never a “career” path. Painting was a special carved out time for me, something that brought peace and calmness to my world, especially when my children were younger and needed a mom who was 100% present.

A Glimpse of Grace (Agog) Studio and the Agog Process are all about being present.  Now that my children are grown, I am dedicating myself to promoting the Agog Attitude. That is to say, little things matter. Curiosity is encouraged.  Entering into Agog Studio is about leaving behind any worries about not being good enough.  Its more about “let’s see what happens if” mentality. What you will find as you make your way through the website is a manifestation of that thought process.

"Let the Beauty we love be what we do. There are Hundreds of ways to Kneel and Kiss the Ground."

A Glimpse of Grace

Practicing Agog is a creative process at A Glimpse of Grace Studio, where artist, Grace Hessman, calls home. It’s a practice that embodies thankfulness and gratitude. By tapping into positivity that focuses on enthusiasm, learning and “seeing what will happen if” while creating; coming to the table with childlike curiosity, allows one to find joy in the process. The invisible veil is lifted when this fearless child enters into the “Practice of Agog”. Her journey is one of discovery and joy, walking a path that is chasing her shadow…she is backlit and beautiful. Every color of the rainbow exists in her world. And the Why of it…is that she chooses…happiness and joy. Let the Beauty we love be what we do. There are Hundreds of ways to Kneel and Kiss the Ground.” Rumi
