“Steps at Whaler’s Cove” captures the pull between land and sea, the invitation to journey beyond the familiar. It was painted en plein air on the rugged California coast. I set up my easel from the trunk of my rental car. There were no parking spots left at Point Lobos Park, the meeting place for a workshop. What began as a bit of inconvenience turned into something guided by Spirit, making the most of the moment. The salt air, the rhythm of the waves, and the weathered steps leading toward the sea became a meditation on movement and stillness. It’s a painting about transition, about finding beauty not just in the destination, but in the quiet courage to step forward.
